Tris (2‑Ethylhexyl) Trimellitate (TOTM) is used as a high‑performance ester base fluid or additive in lubricant formulations due to its low volatility, high viscosity and thermal stability. It is suitable for demanding applications like high‑temperature chain oils, compressor oils, industrial gear oils and greases, providing good lubricity and oxidation resistance. Its properties also make it a candidate reference fluid for viscosity measurements at elevated temperatures and pressures in lubricant testing.
